NEW SEASON! Milk From A Thistle...

Hi Everyone!

Gang of Four put on a fantastic show last Friday night

as did Roxy Music on Tuesday night.

Bryan Ferry didn't do any outfit changes which was a shame but he looked

and sounded fantastic and they did play Virginia Plain.

Sydney based designer Danielle Atkinson studied Textile Design

before launching her fantastic label based on repeat prints.

I really love this!

The colour combinations are so appealing and the shapes easy to wear.

I love them styled with the socks and clogs but they would also be great

with wedges or some ankle boots for the cooler months.

MFAT is made entirely in Australia and all of the silks are hand washable

which is what we need for our climate.

The gorgeous Joanna Newsom is doing a show tonight  at The Tivoli.

If you're feeling a little more rock'n'roll, there is a tribute night for

The Cramps at The Step Inn.

I was lucky enough to see The Cramps play twice in Brisbane

at The Roxy before Lux Interior passed away just over 2 years ago.

Local bands playing the hits on the night include Sulphur LIghts,

The Keep On Dancing's and The Chokes.

I recommend a sequin bunnysuit with some fishnets and heels or

something leopard skin.

Don't be shy!

Tomorrow night, Saturday the 5th I'm going to see Newcastle bands

Alps and Bare Grillz at Woodland.

On Monday night, Glaswegian indie pop heroes Belle and Sebastian

are back in Brisbane after 5 years, touring their latest album called

"Write About Love".

They are playing at The Tivoli.

Next Thursday night the 10th is a huge night!

Australian photographer and musician and founder of Doingbird Magazine,  Max Doyle

will be launching his latest solo photographic exhibition at the

great NEW Nine LIves Gallery.

If you're not up to date, the guys have moved the gallery to Winn Street,

just a couple of doors up from The Outpost and flanked by

Flamingo Cafe and Tym Guitars.

Max Doyle is well known for his fashion photography and in recent years has

been doing a lot of shoots for Australian Vogue, including many covers.

This exhibition is as the title says, about Drums and are shots taken by

Max while on tour with his band Songs.

The exhibition opening will feature some special guest drum spots by local

drummers Nick Norto Naughton (Gentle Ben), Susie Patten (I Heart HIroshima)

and Alex Gillies (No Anchor).

After the exhibition, head upstairs to The Zoo for the long awaited return

of New Zealand LEGENDS The Clean!

They  are playing with two FABULOUS Brisbane bands, Blank Realm,

The Deadnotes and The Legend.

As you see there are a WHOLE LOT of cool things to do in Brisbane -

almost too many in fact but I'm not complaining.

Just lap it up.

Brisbane's IMA (Institute of Modern Art) have just launched their facebook page.

Here is the link to LIKE it and you will be able to keep up with their amazing

programme even more easily -

Don't forget our 3 day jumble sale is on from today, in between BV and The OP

at 715 Ann Street...

See you soon!

Thea X
