New Season DRESS UP, LOVER & introducing SOSUME BASICS!

Hi Everyone!

Yes, it's true.

Blonde Venus actually turned 21 this week.

I can barely comprehend it myself.

So thanks for all the birthday greetings this week and I am

hoping to organize a little something before the year is out...

this milestone is too momentus to slip by uncelebrated!

Glad that you are loving our first deliveries of the season.

We have been giving the Express Post a work out, that's for sure!

Many of you will be sad to hear that the gorgeous Lauren Clarke who

has been working at Blonde Venus for over a year now, is leaving us...

Lauren is a graduate of the QUT Fashion Degree and has just taken

the position of Design Assistant with Lover in Sydney!

So it has been happy/sad news as we will miss her SO much but I'm

ecstatic about her now position with one of our favourite labels.

She is a very talented girl indeed.

Lauren starts work with Lover on Monday and I look forward to catching up

with her at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week in early May.

A lot of you will also remember amazing Abby Bennett who worked at

Blonde Venus before heading over to London a few years ago.

Abby has recently taken the position of PR, Marketing and Events Manager for the Dazed Group

which includes Dazed and Confused, Dazed Digital, Another Magazine,

Another Man Magazine, Another Online and Nowness.com.

Phew! What a busy woman!

Miss you Abby!

Here's the latest new arrivals...

Stephanie Downey emailed me from Paris on the weekend where she is currently

showing her latest collection during Paris Fashion Week.

Wish I was there Steph!

In a country as big as Australia, it is surprisingly difficult to find local designers

that fit into our contemporary aesthetic and Stephanie has that special signature.

Her designs come from a conceptual process where authenticity is important.

Her pieces are interesting yet completely wearable.

They are also all made in Australia.

This season, Stephanie is extending on the subtle twist and drape techniques that

she like to use.

I love her exclusive vintage style floral print and as always, Stephanie's unique colour palette

gives us the mood of winter without falling back on lazy black.

Dress Up is available exclusively in Queensland at Blonde Venus!

Sosume Base Collection, Melbourne

Unisex Basics

Long Tee available in White, Black and Grey $79

Sosume's Base Collection is made from 100% micro modal.

Modal is a natural fibre created from the wood pulp of the beech tree.

This particular modal is sourced from a mill in the south of France and is unique

as it is certified for the controlled use of substances, meaning the process of

creating the fibre is done in a closed-loop-chemical cycle, eliminating

hazardous runoffs.

Is is  a biodegradable fabric, meaning the the end use of the product will reduce landfill.

It uses a tenth of the amount of water as cotton to make the same garment.

It's yield is ten times greater than cotton meaning that you get ten times more

fabric for the same amount of yarn.

It holds it's shape twice as long as cotton and also holds it's colour twice

as long as cotton.

Also nice to know that Sosume Tees are all hand made in Australia.

Sosume Base in store now at Blonde Venus.

A Dance For One AW11

Arabesque High Waist Trouser, available in Nude (pictured) and also Grape $385

Arabesque High Waist Short, available in Grape (pictured) and also Nude $297

Silk Maxi Skirt, available in Nude (pictured) and also Rose $462

This collection concept evolved from the idea of a dancer's wardrobe,

from warm-up clothes to stage costume.

Conceived way before the commercial success of Black Swan,

it's just one of those coincidences and I think that the styles

aren't too literal in translation anyway.

The beautiful pleated maxi skirt makes a return appearance

from summer but in warmer tones.

The whole collection is a dreamy mix of ivory, nude, dusty rose, mushroom, brick,

grape and camel in drapey crepe de chine through to velvety wool cashmere.

I have chosen lots from this collection, so I hope you love it as much as I do!

You can take a peek through the whole collection photos here:

Don't forget to let us know if you would like to go on the waiting list

for a style as some pieces can disappear very quickly.

Lover available at Blonde Venus.
