Hi Everyone!
We had a fab time at the dinner for Stephen Jones
last week and after a much deliberation, I wore
a Peter Pilotto dress with a Natalia Brilli headpiece.
Other guests included artist Michael Zavros,
architects Ingrid Verner, Adrian Spence and Robert Riddel,
fashion designers Pamela Easton, Lydia Pearson
and Paul Hunt, fashion writers Georgina Safe
(The Australian) and Kellie Alderman (The Sunday Mail),
Optiko's Michael Makras and from the Queensland
Art Gallery Francis Parker and Miranda Wallace.
It was wonderful to meet Stephen and we chatted about
the amazing London designers that we have in store
at the moment and his upcoming trip to Tokyo
for a Dior show.
I was also thrilled to meet Oriole Cullen who is the
curator of Modern Textiles and Fashion at the
V&A Museum in London.
Oriole spent nearly 3 weeks in Brisbane, placing the
pieces in the hats exhibition.
The exhibition has already had record visitors
which is fantastic.
We are seeing Eddie Current Suppression Ring play again
at The Zoo tonight.
The band has been around for a couple of years
including a few trips to Brisbane, but this time their
show has sold out.
What great support for an underground Australian
punk band.
The Brisbane Queer Film Festival launches tomorrow tonight
at the Brisbane Powerhouse and runs until 18th
of April.
The deliveries are still rolling through as we stride
into the new season.

We have been stocking Jade's work for a few years now and
it's exciting to see her collections grow each season.
I always love her colour palettes and I particularly adore
this season's Navy, Peach and Bordeax tones.
There is hardly a skerrick of black in store at the moment
which is quite exciting and liberating!

As I promised last week, here are photos of the beautiful
new Grecian inspired Natalia Brilli collection.
I couldn't wait and have already snapped up a headpiece!
Each piece is hand made in Paris and Natalia pushes herself
each season, creating new concepts with her unusual approach
to leather work.

This style was modelled on a WWII Belgian Map Case.
The hardware is cast in white bronze and it measures
approximately 25cm X 28cm
Leather Tote Bag available in Tan (pictured) $362
This style measures approximately 38cm X 31cm and comes
with a second set of adjustable handles, so that you can vary
the strap length.

Friends Chris and Kirk were originally inspired
by a wide leather watch strap they found in a
vintage store back in 1999.
Their enthusiasm led them on a journey of
discovery into a kind of purist form of leather
work.
They worked under a third generation leather
maker in LA for three years before buying
some antique machinery and opening their
own studio.
They have been dedicated at the concept of
keeping their designs completely hand made
using very traditional techniques.
Amish Country, Pennysylvania
The guys now work with a group of Amish
leather workers in Pennysylvania, where life
is pretty much as it was in the late 1800's.
All of the Billykirk leathers are vegetable tanned and hand treated
with natural oils and bees wax to soften and protect.
Their waxed cotton is a superior outdoor material often used
in hunting and fishing goods due to it's strength and water proof
characteristics.
Chris and Kirk design with a modern, minimalist approach with
an emphasis on hand stitching and their goal is to make pieces that
will not only last for years and years but just keep looking better
and better.
