New RESORT Deliveries from KAREN WALKER & LOVER!

Hi Everyone!

Brisbane based Australian artist Vernon Ah Kee  opened a stunning
new exhibition of works at Milani Gallery last night.

I can give you this photo but there is nothing like the emotion of seeing them in person.

Vernon's work is often moving and intense, personal and human.
Sometimes when I'm at a busy opening, I'm almost bothered by the
distraction of people and noise in the room.
It's selfish, but I love to be alone in the room with them, so that I can really take them in.
Then it becomes really personal.
Of course I'd love to take them all home, but...
I'm going back to see these again on a quiet day!
Hallmarks of the Hungry by Vernon Ah Kee is showing until December 1.

We all have nervous excitement about the upcoming Asia Pacific Triennial of
Contemporary Art (APT).
Obviously we only get them every three years but I feel like APT always symbolizes the
beginning of our summer.
Just like a particular song that may recall a summer romance, a summer smell, a mood,
a feeling,  the APT is that kind of exhibition that will give you a special summer memory
of that year.
I can't wait!
The 7th APT opens at QAG/GoMA on December 8 and runs until April 14, 2013.

In the meantime, this very beautiful exhibition opens at QAG tomorrow.

Pumicestone Passage (1957) Gouach on cardboard by Ian Fairweather

After experiencing the intensely rich Prado exhibition from Spain it
is humbling to have something so beautiful on show, from so close to home.
I'd much rather have one or two of these on my walls.  I wish!
Ian Fairweather (1891-1974) lived and worked on Bribie Island from 1953
to 1974.
This exhibition, curated by Angela Goddard is a focus on his work from that
period.
You can join Angela at 2:30 tomorrow (Saturday the 10th), in conversation with
Australian painter Lawrence Daws sharing insights into his friendship with Fairweather
during the early 70's.
The exhibition runs until March 3rd, 2013.

We have all probably seen thousands of T-shirt designs over time but
I love the fact that Trent Evans can always surprise me.

Trent is our man on the street, designing for guys (and girls) like him.
We haven't wooed him back to Brisbane yet but at least he his staying inspired.
As always, these runs are limited edition and will be gone in a flash!
