New! Only Midge Satchels, Bellroy Wallets + win movie tickets to see SHAME!

Hi Everyone!

Have you been to Harajuku Gyoza yet?

I hadn't actually made it in due to the constant queues

but I discovered that you can generally breeze on it at around 9pm.

I had a big, fun night on the town last Friday to farewell dear friend

Lyndell Mansfield  before she returned to London on Saturday.

We have a mutual friend in Steve Minon, the very creative founder of

Harajuku Gyoza so we got the party started there with delicious food

and of course lots of Sake!

We danced the night away at Woodland thanks again to Chester and

his fabulous vintage playlist.

I was back out on Sunday night to see The Straight Arrows and Thee Oh Sees

who were both so exhilarating.

If you don't have them already, you can buy vinyl releases from these bands and more

at The Outpost.

We are lucky to get so many great bands touring here on such a regular basis.

This year is looking super busy and I've locked in so many dates already - Dead Farmers,

Black Lips, Jane Birkin, Dirty Three, Electrelane, Wooden Shjips, Dead Meadow...

that's not everyone and that's only through to March!

Plan ahead by checking out the venue websites -

I'm getting quite excited about Laneway Festival which is on next Saturday the 28th

of January in Brisbane.

I'm hoping it's not beastly hot like last year, in fact I remember saying that I'm never doing this

again (!) but I am and really looking forward to seeing YUCK,

Total Control, Feist, Pains of Being Pure at Heart, The Horrors, The Drums and M83.

The timetables are up now and you can get more details here:

There is new season Antipodium and Benah on it's way but for now, here's what's new this week...

Win tickets to a film preview of Shame.

Starring Michael Fassbender and Carey Mulligan and directed by Steve McQueen,

this film has received outstanding reviews world wide including awards for Best Actor and Critics Choice

at the Venice Film Festival last year.

Set in New York city, Brandon's (Fassbender) carefully cultivated private life - which allows him to

indulge his sexual addiction - is disrupted when his sister Sissy (Mulligan) arrives unannounced for

an indefinite stay.

This looks quite powerful and intense -

We have 10 Double Passes to giveaway to a special preview, thanks to Think Tank Communications

and Palace Cinemas!

when: Wednesday February 1st at 6:30pm

where: Palace Centro, 39 James Street, New Farm

To win, just email me back with SHAME in the subject.

I saw The Descendants this week and really enjoyed it.

Sure it was a little sad but the acting and characters were strong

and it was a window to the culture and beauty of Hawaii.

I thought the costuming was perfect too.

It's certainly not high fashion but just the right things for the story.

Wishing I was in Hobart tomorrow night watching PJ Harvey at MONA FOMA.

Have a great time!

Thea X
