Hi Everyone!
Antipodium designer Geoffrey J Finch dropped in to the store
last Saturday for a visit and we managed a quick afternoon G&T
at Black Bear Lodge.
Geoffrey is on a brief Australian visit, touring the collection that
he wowed everyone with at London Fashion Week a couple
of weeks ago.
The Black Bear Lodge is another wonderful upstairs escape
for people like us.
BBL understand PLU's and discreetly close their windows to keep
out offending sounds and put some old vinyl on the record player to make us
feel at home.

Looking at these photos, you could be forgiven for thinking that they are from a European collection.
It's true, Australian designers are generally not known for their avant-garde direction.
Christopher Esber's collection was one of the last collections to show on the runway at Australian
Fashion Week earlier this year and it was amazing - in my top 2.
There is a skill in creating avant-garde designs that have distinction but that are pared back enough
to have a certain timeless chic about them.
Christopher may be still in the early stages of his career but he certainly has a sophisticated approach.

As expected, Cheap Monday have done jeans, chinos and tees in fantastic
cuts at amazing prices.
The big news this season is the launch of their new underwear line!
The CM design team researched cuts and shapes all over the world
for a couple of years before coming out with this collection.
It's these smaller things that are the hardest to do.
For the guys, it's classic stretch trunks with the cool CM branding.
For the girls, it's some great hard to find, high waisted briefs in a soft
stretch lace.

Adapted from the beautifully written novel by popular Japanese author Haruki Murakami
with a soundtrack composed by Radiohead's Johnny Greenwood, Norwegian Wood is a
sensitive, passionate story of nostalgia, loss and sexual awakening which also captures
cultural change in Japan.
I have read (and loved) the book and David and Margaret have rated this film
3.5 and an impressive 4.5 respectively so I am keen to see this.
