New Season! Carly Hunter, Lover, Arnsdorf & More! 05-11-10

Hi Everyone!

Thanks to everyone who came along to our
exclusive Lover Zine launch last night!
Our pretty installation, courtesy of Lover will be
in-store for the next week if you couldn't make
it along.
I think that we may have drunk all the wine though!

We still have some pieces to deliver from Lover's Swimwear
collection including more bikinis.
I'll let you know when they arrive.

On Wednesday night, I went to another film
screening at GoMA of one of my favourite
films ever, George Cukor's The Women from 1939.

Seriously, what would we do without that gallery
in our lives!

I have this movie on a very old video tape that I
am now too scared to play so was thrilled to
have the opportunity to watch it in a cinema.

With stunning costumes by Adrian and the
brilliant screenplay written by Anita Loos
it's incredibly funny and witty and a real
time capsule.

There are actually no men in the entire movie.
If you ever get a chance to see it again, here is the
original trailer -

The Brisbane International Film Festival
actually opens today.
If you haven't already, go to the website, select some
films and GO!

I have selected three documentaries to start with -

Jean-Michel Basquiat - The Radiant Child
"A vibrant study of the iconic New York artist".

William S Burroughs: A Man Within
Features a soundrack by Patti Smith and Sonic Youth.

Bill Cunningham New York
"A fascinating biopic of the unlikely New York fashion icon".

I would also love to see -
Genius Within: The Inner Life of Glenn Gould
The crazy pianist who popularised classical music
in the 1950's with his interpretations of Bach and
Beethoven.

When You're Strange
Documentary on The Doors narrated by Johnny Depp.

Superstonic Sound: The Rebel Dread Documentary
The story of dub and reggae revolutionary Don Letts.

Cameraman: The Life and Work of Jack Cardiff
Jack Cardiff shot iconic films  War and Peace (1956) and
The African Queen (1951) as well as these three films
which are all screening at the festival - The Red Shoes, The Barefoot Contessa
and Hithcock's Under Capricorn.

This is just a small selection, so for the full programme, please go to:
plus, if you join the BIFF Film Club, the movies are even cheaper!

Tonight at Woodland!

I'm going  to Woodland tonight for this show and also hoping to get to
lots of movies over the next week.
Besides the film festival, I really want to see Gainsbourg and The Social Network.
What about a lazy gin at Ortiga?
Well, I'm keen!
See you soon,
Thea X
