New! Lover, Arnsdorf & More... 12-11-10

Hi Everyone!

There has been quite a bit of
"well...I just finished UNI" shopping this week!

Have you been seeing FILMS?!
I followed up Basquiat and Burroughs with a
moving documentary from China, called Last Train Home.

Last night I went to another BIFF event at the IMA
which was a screening of short films by experimentalist
Malcolm Le Grice.
Malcolm is in Brisbane at the moment and spoke about
some of his work as well as making a performance piece
on the evening.

If you missed it, you can catch his second event tonight
at The Tribal Theatre at 6:30.
Here is probably his most well known piece called Berlin Horse
from 1970 with music by Brian Eno.

Tonight, I'm going to see Bill Cunningham New York screening at Centro and possibly also
Mother of Rock: Lillian Roxon which is screening at The Tribal Theatre.

I discovered that the 4pm Sunday afternoon surprise screening at Centro is Sofia Coppola's
new movie Somewhere which I am DESPERATE to see but I will be WORKING!

It's a sign of a good film festival when there's just too many good films to possibly see.

There are some advance screenings at Palace Centre of the new Gainsbourg film on
Saturday and Sunday (the 13th and 14th) at 10:20am only.
I can't wait to see this film also.
I have 3 Double Passes for these screenings to give away to the first three
enthusiasts that come and see me at Blonde Venus today!
If you come too late, you have to buy me a coffee and talk to me about movies ;)

After the IMA, I went down to Nine LIves Gallery to see the latest illustrations and
photos by Brisbane artist Joel Birch...

Inspired by kitsch typography styles, the show called Love Letters
"advertises" messages from the heart in a very cute manner and judging
by the number of "sold" stickers, the pieces have been very well
received.
This show runs until November 20.

All of the student grad shows are on at the moment and I'm aiming to get to these
next week.

On Thursday the 18th, Last Days is the graduate exhibition for the Photography
students at QCA.
The exhibition opens at 6:30pm at White Box Gallery, Level 4, Grey Street Studios,
226 Grey Street, South Bank.
This is a free event.
If you can't make it on the night, the exhibition will then be open Friday the 19th and
Saturday the 20th, from 10am to 4pm.

Running from Tuesday the 16th to Friday the 19th are the QUT Fashion Graduate Shows.
Each night, twenty-something students will show the culmination of their work in a
95 minute runway show.
Tickets are $40 and can be purchased by phone on 31384455 or on line at http://www.gardenstheatre.qut.edu.au.
