New! Dress Up, Sara Phillips, Malmo & More! 7th October 2010

Hi Everyone,

Yes, I am guilty of not being able to do everything that I want
to do.
I constantly miss getting to the Cinematheque at GoMA, so spontaneously
last Friday night, I dashed over with some friends to see two
short fashion films.
They were so fabulous that I have now scoured the entire programme
and diarised some more hot dates.

We saw two French films that a from a 4 part series called The Day Before
where the crew follow a fashion house in the 36 hours leading up to their
big runway show.
Last week was Proenza Schouler and also Fendi featuring some
incredible (and ridiculous) moments with the label's designer Karl Lagerfeld.

The film programme includes some of my all time favourite classic/cult
films like The Women (1939), Marie Antoinette (1938) starring Norma Shearer
Some Like It Hot (1959) with Marilyn Monoe, Jack Lemmon, Tony Curtis
and for the fabulous costumes Zigfield Girl (1941) with the sultry Hedy Lamarr.

Some film times are a little hard to get to if you work full time but check out
the programme and see what you can do -

We almost breathe a sigh of relief when Paris Fashion Week winds up.
It gives me a little chance to catch up.
I've been enjoying style.com's latest additive - the Move It button -
which unfortunately isn't available for every collection but it sure
is great.

There seems to have been A LOT of satin, disco, flares, orange, stars,
white, white, yawn, did I mention white?

There have been some more live streamings this week which is great
if you happen to be up at 3 or 4 in the morning.
To see some replays of big name shows Miu Miu and Louis Vuitton,

Tonight I'm going to catch another couple of fashion films at
GoMA's Cinematheque.

Later, I'll be slipping into something FLOWER POWER for the
Spring Fling at Woodland.

The party is to celebrate the third birthday for our essential
weekly informer Four Thousand and it's free entry!
If you haven't already, subscribed to this informative newsletter

If you feel like live music, The Troubadour have a fun show
on tonight with Thee Hugs, Tiny Migrants, The Keep On Dancin's
and those crazy party boys Velociraptor.
Tickets are $8 and the first band is on at 8:30.

Early on Saturday night, there is a fantastic free band event as part
of the BARI Festival.
Strangely, it's on the concrete at King George Square but the
event is free and one of may favourite local bands Blank Realm
are headlining, along with Ambrose Chapel, AMSS and Psy-Ants.
This event runs from 7pm to 10pm and a bar will be on site.

Later on Saturday night, Tom Hall from Axxonn will be DJing
early followed by regulars Polar Bear, Harvey Satan and also
a set by Re-enactment.

I am heading down to Sydney next week to preview more collections
for next season.
Let me know if there is anything amazing on while I'm there!

Next stop: Dion Lee!
Ask us if you're in-store...

See you soon,
Thea X
