New Season! Mary Katrantzou London & More! 1st October 2010

Hi Everyone!

Hot off the success of their London Fashion Week presentation,
Antipodium's Geoffrey J Finch was in town yesterday for us to
preview his new Hothouse collection.

We caught up again last night for more fashion gossip and
a bite to eat at popular Brisbane eatery, The Cross Town
Eating House.

The London Observer picked the Antipodium collection as one of their
Top 10 Fashion Week Moments along with Richard Nicoll.

I loved the colour palette and the prints created by ex Brisbane,
now New York based illustrator/animator Craig Redman of Rinzen
fame.

Craig is more recently known for the creation of his adorable Darcel Disappoints character,
with a blog that follows Darcel's funny world and hs unique way of looking at life.
He has done recent exhibitions in London and Paris' Collette where
Karl Lagerfeld came along to fall in love with Darcel!

Take a look at Craig/Darcel's blog where he has been currently
doing the fashion week circuit, going to shows and parties
and generally looking adorable.
Alors Craig, nous vous aimons!

You may have heard a bit about the BARI Festival?
BARI is the Brisbane Artist Run Initiatives Festival.
Originally formed by the team at Jugglers Art Space in
Fortitude Valley, with the idea of encouraging and
celebrating Brisbane's independent arts and creatives,
in all it's forms.

The festival runs all through October and there is an extensive
calender of happenings that you can follow through their blog -

Last Sunday night, I made an early visit to the Troubadour to see
a performance by amazing singer and song writer McKisko.
McKisko is Helen Franzmann and in 2009 she received the
Grant McLennan Memorial Fellowship for songwriting.

Her voice and songs are so beautiful and if you haven't had
the chance to see McKisko live, she is doing a residency
through the month of October at The Powerhouse.

These residencies are a great way to start your weekend, after
work on Friday nights.
They start at 6pm and are free!

Napoleon Dress $1344

Mantel Rose Dress $1344

If you have never seen Mary Katrantzou's pieces in real life, I have to
make it clear now that these are all digitally printed silks.
You may see swathes of silk, layered textures, popping jewels and draping
chains.
Yes, they appear three dimensional because Mary is a master at imagery
and creates the silhouette through her print design.

These Rococo delights were inspired by portraits of Madame de Pompadour
and paintings by Fragonard and Nattier.

Mary just previewed her very latest collection at London Fashion Week on
the 19th of September to rave reviews.
It seems she has a lot of fans.
