Hi Everyone!
Some lovely friends joined me for Birthday drinks at newish
inner city bar Super Whatnot that is located in Burnett Lane.
Yes, the city - not normally a night time destination but we will
go wherever we can find a haven, away from...well you know - "those" people!
Owner Simon Martin has created a simple but stylish and welcoming
environment (friendly staff) and the bar closes at 12pm if you want an early night.
So now we can add Super Whatnot to our circuit of places for people
like us including Black Bear Lodge, Woodland, The End, Junk Bar and Jaimie's.
I saw the film The Artist and loved it!
It re-affirmed by love for tap dancing.
Have you ever seen Eleanor Powell?!
This is from the 1941 film Lady Be Good:
Jade Sarita Arnott (Arnsdorf) is back from New York for a visit
and dropped in to the stores this week with her husband Andrew Apostola
and their gorgeous baby boy Pavlo.
Andrew was hosting a portable.tv talks for Product Design 2012
at The Edge on Tuesday.
Jade is still blogging for Vogue Australia and you can follow her posts here:
If you have the style.com app on your phone, you already know
that New York Fashion Week has been on this week.
I have been scanning the shows and thrilled to see more oranges and
brights coming through and also the 1960's influences:

London next!
Here's what's new in store this week...
The Future out now on DVD
This film debuted in Australia at the Sydney International Film Festival
last year, but sadly no general cinema release.
I guess this is the plight of the avant garde but this film which was
written, directed and also stars Miranda July has already attained cult
status in art house circles.
The story follows a thirty-something couple who decide to adopt a stray cat
and find their perspective on life change radically, literally altering the course
of time and space and testing their faith in each other and themselves.
Oh it sounds so simplistic but Miranda is genius at expanding and exploring
on life's little thoughts and details no matter how confronting they may be!
You may know Miranda July from her film You and Me and Everyone We Know
or her books including No One Belongs Here More Than You, Learning To Love You More
or most recently It Chooses You.
Read more about her here:
...and buy the movie!

with stripey things so totally loving this collection.
Cheap Monday - the label that revolutionised the jean industry some years
ago now with their crazy, skinny, cheap jeans and now have given us so much more.
Their Eyewear and Underwear collections have been just as popular as their jeans
obviously filling a gap in the market.
I guess not every guy wants to wear Bonds boxer shorts!
Today Cheap Monday are opening their first stand alone store in London and
on iconic Carnaby Street.
It seems appropriate for the modern day Mod.
Cheap Monday in store now at The Outpost with selected styles in Blonde Venus.
The IMA is back with a big bang on Saturday with their first major exhibition
for the year and according to all sources it's amazing.
Works by Mikala Dwyer (Drawing Down the Moon) and also Richard Phillips
(Lindsay Lohan) will officially open from 5pm to 7pm.
The opening will be preceded by an artist talk by Mikala Dwyer at 4pm.
If you can't make it on the evening, this exhibition will run until April 14.
Make sure you get along and make the most of this fantastic gallery.
Also on Saturday evening, is another exciting artist event, the Brisbane Emerging Art Festival.
This event is free and one night only and will present visual art, music, performance, fashion
and film from Brisbane based creatives aged 18-35.
The festival is being hosted at the Metro Arts Building and will open from 6pm to 11pm.

After that you can dance the rest of the night away to nothing but POP music at the debut
of Electric Chapel at St Paul's Tavern, Spring Hill.
Bought to you by Nick Jones (Depot) and also Anthony Pirovich (Fagbar) who
will possibly need a monster truck to haul in all of his vinyl!
Expect to hear Whitney, Kylie, Dannii, Madge, Britney, Gaga, Janet,
Michael, Mariah, Peaches, Prince...got the picture?
Sounds like lots of fun and a good work out.
