New Season! LOVER! +Opinel @ The Outpost + Win Portable.tv Tickets

HI Everyone!

My diary was packed last night but alas too much work to do.
If you are considering opening a small business, remember that
there could be 15 hour days involved!

So I missed the opening night of Queensland Theatre Company's latest
production, Cat On a Hot Tin Roof  (I am definitely going to catch this while it's on).

I also missed The Wonderstuff at The Tivoli AND I missed New Zealand
band Batrider at Woodland.
Brisbane is not the biggest city in the world but there sure is a lot to do sometimes.

I'm super excited to see Mick Harvey (Birthday Party/Bad Seeds) play at
GoMA Uplate tonight.
I have never seen him perform a solo show before and the gallery atmosphere
should be perfect.
Also on the programme tonight is a one hour screening of Prisoner at the Cinemateque,
talks from GoMA's Zoe De Luca and fashion theorist Ben Byrne and the evening's DJ
is El Norto (Nick Norton/Gentle Ben).

I may see you at some of the Fashion Festival?
I'm looking forward to the Australian Fashion Graduate Award which features some of the best
fashion design graduates from around Australia.

If you are not doing anything on Wednesday night, I will be part of this forum which is free -

QUT "Fashion After Hours" - in partnership with the State Library of Queensland.

8.30pm / Auditorium 1, Level 2 State Library of Queensland, South Bank / Admission Free - reserve you tickets with QTIX

What's New at The Outpost?

The Opinel knife was invented by Joseph Opinel in 1890 in Savoie as a simple working man's
or peasant's knife.
It proved popular with the local farmers, herdsmen and paysans-vignerons (peasant winemakers)
of the area.

The Opinel has since become an iconic symbol of French culture and lifestyle.
Pablo Picasso used an Opinel to carve his sculptures and the knives were also
used by Roger Frison-Roche, the Savoyard alpine guide and mountaineer and
Eric Tabarly, the long distance solo yachtsman.

In 1985 the Victoria and Albert Museum in London selected the Opinel as part of an exhibit
celebrating the "100 most beautiful products in the world" alongside the Porsche 911
sports car and the Rolex watch.
The Opinel was also selected as one of the 999 best designs in "Phaidon Design Classics"
and has been exhibited by New York's Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) as a design
masterpiece.
Opinel is still produced in France and the company is still run by the Opinel family.

We have a range of sizes in stock, in the traditional style (no6 to no9)
starting from $20.

We also have some box sets available that come complete with a leather pouch and sharpening
steel, from $75.
