Hi Everyone!
Last Friday night was the perfect example of the wonderful
mischief that you can get up to in Fortitude Valley.
Firstly we went to the jam packed Curvy Exhibition at
Nine Lives Gallery which included some particularly
beautiful paintings by Brisbane artist Alannah Mullaly.
Then we ran up to the opening of new club X & Y
on Ann Street.
This building is a local legend as in the 1980's, it was
home to alternative club The Love Inn and later in the
1990's, the infamous Lesbian bar, Club Lewmors.
After that it was down to Rics where Matt's brother
was playing in his band Greg Brady and The Anchors
as well as Mum Smokes from Melbourne.
Lastly, we found ourselves on the top floor of
the Empire where the Lick It crew were hosting
London DJ duo James and Jim from Horsemeat Disco.
The guys played fantastic disco and it was such
a great crowd.
I danced for hours!
Tickets have now gone on sale for the Brisbane International Film
Festival which runs from 30th July to 9th August.
This year the festival has largely moved back to it's original
stomping grounds at the beautiful Regent cinemas
on Queen Street as well as the Cinematheque at the GoMA.
As usual there are too many good films that I can physically see
in the 11 days but I have booked some tickets already so that I
don't miss out.
The September Issue

Absolutely essential viewing is the documentary on the making
of an edition of US Vogue Magazine, The September Issue.
Starring Anna Wintour, Andre Leon Talley and Grace Coddington.
I am going to see Unmade Beds, a film about squatter culture
in London and also the Aaron Rose film Beautiful Losers
which documents a group of early 90's New York DIY artists.

If you happen to be in Sydney, make sure that you visit
The Australian Centre for Photography.
Located in an unlikely spot amongst chain stores on Oxford Street
is this fascinating gallery space which has a never ending
stream of great exhibitions.

with her spooky but brilliant solo show, entitled Interior Disaster.

To really understand a Karen Walker collection, you
HAVE to watch and listen to the Runway show.
The styling and soundtrack is always incredibly clever
and reveals to me why I have a continuous love affair
with what she does.
It just really clicks with me.
