Austin Moro is one of the very talented recent graduates from a Bachelor of
Fine Arts in Fashion at QUT.

He had barely had his collection on the runway when Austin was announced as
one of the 10 Australian finalists for the Australians in New York Foundation,
2013 Internship Prize.
The winner receives a 6 month internship in New York with the designer of their choice
and a $20,000 grant to help cover airfares and living expenses in NY.
What an amazing opportunity!
The winner will be announced after judging on December 19.
We wish Austin the very best!

Austin very kindly let me wear his beautiful sheer floral organza dress (pictured)
to one of the runway show nights and Lots of Ladies have been desperate to
get their hands on something from his collection.

Austin isn't launching a ready to wear yet but is releasing some of the accessories
from his collection including these fabulous clutch purses.
The hardest decision is which colour!

Sally Kerkin also just completed her  BFA / Fashion at QUT with a beautiful collection.
As part of her final year's work, Sally also created these incredible jewellery pieces.
The designs are completely hand made, without molds, so each piece is completely
individual.

"This is how Sally describes her collection -
The "Thought Vessel" Collection explores change, evolution
and thought process.
It reflects on the birth of a new idea or concept.
Personally, thought is something that is constantly evolving and adapting to
different environments.
It is something that cannot be confined by barriers yet it is defined
by it's surroundings.
Embrace your vessel and allow it to encapsulate your own journey."
Sally Kerkin Jewellery available exclusively at Blonde Venus!

Last night I went to a multi show at Milani Gallery.
The main gallery features an exhibition by Lebanese/Australian
multi-media artist Khaled Sabsabi.

The warehouse space (a few doors down) features a mixture of works
under the title Propositions and contributing artists include
Richard Bell, Vernon Ah Kee, Eugene Carchesio, Sandra Selig,
Madonna Staunton, Stuart Ringholt, Gordon Bennett, Ian Burn,
Gordon Hookey, Peter Kennedy, Tom Nicholson, Raquel Ormella,
Judy Watson and Khadim Ali.

One of my favourite pieces was a swinging, twirling installation
with light/projection by Brisbane artist Ross Manning.

Read all the details of both shows here:

Tonight, I'm heading to the IMA Cocktail Party where the gallery
will be unveiling their new exhibition The Hanging Sky by major New Zealand painter
Shane Cotton.

On Sunday, Shane will be at the IMA in conversation with Christchurch curator
Justin Paton from 12pm.
The exhibition will then continue until March 2nd 2013.

On Saturday night, I am going to see girl of the moment, Canadian
pop-synth superstar Claire Boucher aka Grimes at The Zoo.
Claire, who is also known for her unique style and fashion attraction,
took a liking to new Australian label Verner and dropped in to
their studio in Melbourne this week.
Yeah! We got it!
We are stocking the debut Verner collection now in-store and
also on-line:

Speaking of The Zoo, you may have heard about their huge
20th Birthday Celebrations on December 15th.

Can you believe that it's been 20 years?
I'm having so many flashbacks and I have seen SO many
amazing bands there.

They have lots of great  shows playing over summer too
including New Zealand's The Datsuns,  Spencer P Jones (The Johnnys),
Evan Dando (The Lemonheads) and BIG NEWS is that The Strange Tenants
will be playing there in February.
Go to the website and diarise!

See you soon,
Thea X
