FINAL SALE MARKDOWNS! 16th January 2010

Hi Everyone!

In fashion news this week, Richard Nicoll, Christopher Kane
and Marios Schwab have been announced as a few of the
designers in the shortlist to win the inaugural
British Fashion Council / Vogue Designer Fashion
Fund.

Maison Martin Margiela (without Margiela) have just
previewed their first ever fragrance called Untitled
which will release in Paris at the end of the month.

Interestingly enough, the street style photographers The Sartorialist
and Facehunter both started their blogs at about the same time.
Now both have produced books of the work that has made them famous.

The Satorlalist book is already on the shelves and Ivan Rodic's
Facehunter book will launch at Colette in Paris at the end of
this month.
It is so great to see the photos in print and what a fabulous
fashion time capsule.

It's hard enough keeping up with all of the film releases
(and even trying to go back and see some of them again)
but there are so many talented people touring Australia
at the moment.

If you are lucky enough to be in Sydney at the moment,
the amazing Sydney Festival is on.

My festival event highlight is Signal to Noise, which is being
presented by Modular Music.
The event is on Australian music from 1979 to 1985 covering avant garde,
post punk, new wave and early electronic and includes one of my favourite
bands of the time Pel Mel and also The Laughing Clowns.

There are 3 sessions of day talks  (Seymour Centre, Everest Theatre)
on this Saturday the 16th.
Also starting on Saturday at the same venue is an exhibition
featuring fanzines, photography, album artwork and videos
from the era.

Then to top it all off, John Cale, ex Velvet Underground and
prolific solo artist is in the country for the event.
He will be speaking at the Seymour Centre tonight, Friday the 15th
and then will round it all off with a show on Saturday night at
the Enmore Theatre.
Now that's a busy weekend!

If, like me, you are in Brisbane, there is a magical plethora of events
happening here this month and I won't even mention February yet:

Friday 15th / David Sedaris @ The Tivoli
Saturday 16th January / Joanna Newsom @ The Tivoli
Monday 18th January /  Peaches @ The Hi-Fi Bar
Thursday 21st January / Dent May and his Magnificent Ukelele @ The Troubadour
Friday 22nd January / Camera Obscura @ The Zoo
Sunday 24th January / I Heart Hiroshima @ The Powerhouse (all ages show)
Monday 25th January / The Dirty Three AND The Laughing Clowns @ The Tivoli
Friday 29th January / Laneway Festival
Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st January / Marianne Faithful @ The Tivoli

The September Issue on DVD!

The September Issue is being released on DVD before the end
of the month and will be available at The Outpost!
It also features 90 minutes of deleted and extended scenes.
I can't wait to see Andre Leon Talley outakes!
This is a fabulous idea for Valentines Day and just great to own so
reserve your copy now.
