No. 6 is the result of two creative friends getting together

and making cool things.

Vintage collector Morgan Yakus and stylist Karin Bereson opened

their No. 6 store in LIttle Italy, New York in 2005 stocking a mixture

of vintage and avant garde labels and their own designs.

They became particularly well known for their clog collection

which preempted the recent wave of popularity.

They have a strong NY art/music association and have even collaborated with

Sonic Youth's Kim Gordon.

I love their clothing style as it has that definite vintage aesthetic but

also very modern and very easy to wear.

The girls have designed their own prints and I think that these fab

photos by Peter Sutherland convey their image and label's personality very well.

The No. 6 girl is having a good time!

No. 6 AW11 is available exclusively in Queensland at Blonde Venus.

POMS, Sydney

Photography: Rene Vaile

Art Direction: Tristan Ceddia

The first time I saw these I was maybe taken aback.

A pom pom on a ring?!

My Mum loved pom poms and I think that it had something to do

with her admiration of the Greek national dress.

Now that I have worn a Pom on my finger, I have become very enamoured.

There is something precious about them and something kind of exotic

like wearing YSL in the Moroccan desert.

Maybe, Yves would have liked a Pom?

Each ring is carefully hand constructed and features a combination of

semi-precious stones, Greek and sterling silver beads, bamboo and wool and silk

threads.

POMS are available at P.A.M. Store (Syd), Poepke (Syd), Someday Store (Melb)

and are available exclusively in Queensland at Blonde Venus.

Sometimes, when we have stocked a label for a long time, you feel like

you know it super well.

Like a girlfriend, you know her personality traits, her strengths and weaknesses

and her little nuances.

Sometimes you might drift apart, you might need some time alone.

I feel like Arnsdorf and I are watching movies together again.

In fact, it looks like she has been borrowing my Kevin Murphy Powder Puff!

The collection feels very modern and the colour mix is light and fresh.

This is the first Arnsdorf delivery for the season, with more coming soon.

Arnsdorf in store now at Blonde Venus.

See you soon!

New Season! Dress Up, Sosume, Nathan Smith & More!

HI Everyone!

Did you survive London Fashion Week?

I haven't gone through everything yet but here's some highlights -

Antipodium designer Geoffrey J Finch continued his dream run with another modern collection.

He included male and female models of varying ages which re-inforces my idea

of fashion today - there really are no boundaries.

We no longer need separate shopping destinations for old uniforms like maternity, formal, mother of the bride or

my particular favourite, after 5;)

We don't have society dictating us to wear a crinoline, a flapper dress, a mini or NOT to wear trousers.

If you need something for any occasion, you can actually buy what you like and wear it with individuality and confidence.

Most collections today are translating that exactly.

There's no need for a ballgown at the end of the show.

We want beautiful, individual pieces that we can work from day to night.

We can style if for the occasion.

Geoffrey's collection called Interiors was inspired by the 1978 Woody Allen film of the same name.

He even created an exclusive cutlery lace design!

Antipodium's beautiful hair was in the genius hands of my dear friend Lyndell Mansfield

using Bumble and Bumble and needless to say, I love the lady with long grey hair.

Maybe she was inspired by our girls Honey Ryder and Modesty Blaise?

For amazing show pics of this collection, go to Vogue UK which has an incredible ZOOM feature,

allowing you to take in all the details.

I think there will be no other name for this colour now other than the Richard Nicoll Blue!

Richard has again referenced the 60's and the 90's and again played with sheer

layers creating shadow and leading your eye to new lines and proportions.

Hooped petticoats - who would have thought they could look so modern?!

His patent leather made it's way back again for the third season and it looks positively

edible in the pastel tones.

Naturally, I love his Le Pyjama.

This collection feels totally fresh and new but is somehow unmistakably Richard Nicoll.

I had to take a snap of the Mandarin Sundress.

It actually makes me want to be a go-go dancer ;)

Designer Stephanie Downey has continued her unique detailing in these pieces -

the squared armholes and pocket angles, the pleating, the subtle openings and

the neat raw wooden buttons that look perfect on her natural fibres.

I was in Sydney this week to see Steph's winter collection and can I say - amazing!

Can you believe that she is a one woman show?

It feels so great to be buying a young Australian designer that has committed

herself to originality, quality and makes all of her garments (including her knitwear)

in Australia.

Dress Up is available exclusively in Queensland at Blonde Venus!

Sosume, Melbourne

Modal Silk Tee in Nude $99

Modal Silk Tee in Black $99

Modal Silk Tee in White $99

Box Shirt in Ivory $169

Box Shirt in Nude $169

Remember that t-shirt that you bought, washed once and then could only

wear it to bed?

You will probably want to wear these to bed because they feel so beautiful.

Designer Alex Trimmer is obsessive about the quality of fabric that he chooses for

his pieces, selecting high end Japanese micro-modal silk that actually keeps

it's shape and doesn't pill.

All Sosume pieces are then lovingly hand made in Melbourne.

Sosume is available exclusively in Queensland at Blonde Venus!

Nathan Smith, Sydney

Brushed Silk Skirt in Grey $299

If you bought the black version of this skirt, you know how beautiful it is to wear.

A great summer piece.

We have also received some re-stock of Nathan's soft and easy tanks and tees.

Nathan Smith available exclusively in Queensland at Blonde Venus!

House of Cards, Brisbane

Crystal Bolo Ties $88

Brisbane designer Ashiya Omundsen has transformed the traditional

western bolo tie into something a little more spiritual.

Mary Beth Jo wears Antipodium Jolene Shirt, Illesteva Leonard Sunglasses and

House of Cards Aragonite Bolo Tie.

Aragonite Crystal is said to have a calming effect.

This makes it useful to those going through emotional turmoil, including stress.

It is believed to encourage patience and help when one is overwhelmed with

responsibility.

I could use a whole bag of this stuff.

Stibnite Crystal is commonly used for protection, enhancing energy fields

by creating a barrier around ones body.

It is said to enhance psychic knowing, guidance and direction and also

believed to stimulate mental understanding of the animal, plant and mineral

kingdoms, allowing communication on a higher level.

House of Cards Crystal Bolo Ties come in  a hand made pouch with an

information card on each crystal so they would make a great gift!
