New! Lover, Arnsdorf, Antipodium, PAM & More! 22/10/10

HI Everyone!

On Wednesday night, we saw the star of The Jam and The Style Council,
Paul Weller play at The Tivoli.
Famously known as The Modfather, Paul stylish as always in a Black Knit Tee,
Black Bootleg Slacks and beautiful Black and White Leather Lace Ups performed
a mixture of new and old including Shout It To The Top, That's Entertainment,
and after 3 encores finished off the night with A Town Called Malice.
I LOVE this song!

The Australian Graphic Design Association held their annual awards
at Brisbane's Convention Centre last Saturday night and the recipients of one of
the highest possible accolades The Pinnacle Award was won by 3 Deep Design
for their work with Six Scents Parfums.

We have been stocking the New York based fragrance collection
for nearly two years now and besides the unique fragrances and concept,
everyone often remarks on the packaging design which is obviously a credit
to Melbourne's 3 Deep Design.
If you haven't seen it, come in and take a look!

Lots more new things in both stores.
Here's the latest...

My favourites in this collection are the Old Gold pieces

Exit Through The Giftshop; Special Edition DVD set

This film showed recently in Brisbane in a very limited release at The Tribal Theatre.
Bought to us by internationally renowned artist Banksy, I left the cinema enlightened
but intrigued.
Is this a mockumentary?
Is it all a complete scam or is it an honest journey of a voyeur turned artist
and the culture and world surrounding his journey?
I am still not sure and so will definitely have to watch it again.
Luckily we are now stocking this box set ($35) which includes:
Exit Through the Giftshop DVD
2D glasses designed by Banksy
Sticker Set
Collectable Art Card
Available NOW at The Outpost!

Very Shorts in Praline $189
The Original PAM Sterling Silver Fang Necklace, from $257

LIckey Mickey Raglan Cotton Sweat in Indigo $220
Very Shorts in Black $189

Every season PAM create pieces that are outside the mainstream fashion trends
yet they manage to create pieces that are so fashion that
they have no time limit - no expiry date.
Does this make sense?
I have PAM pieces from 10 years ago that are still avant garde today.
Surely, this is a sign of good design.

This is our first delivery for the season with more to follow and
a big thanks to Joel for being our men's wear model.
Perks and Mini in store now at The Outpost!

Sad news announced this week Ari Up from cult band The Slits

Gemma Smith Exhibition
save the date

Gemma Smith is one of Australia's most popular, contemporary young
artists with an impressive list of exhibitions under her belt as well as being
the recipient of many awards and scholarships for her colourful and optimistic
works.
I was lucky enough to see an exhibition of Gemma's work at Sarah Cottier Gallery in
Sydney earlier this year but now she has made it a little easier for us
by presenting her new works locally at Milani Gallery.
Must see!

I apologize for any delays in getting back to you with email enquiries
from interstate and overseas.
It just gets a little hectic in the store sometimes but we're doing our best!

Hope to see you soon,

New! Dion Lee Spring/Summer! 15-10-2010

Hi Everyone!

I just arrived back from Sydney so this will be a quick note.
It was great to catch up with everyone and hang at our favourite
Surry Hills spots like Kawa, Don Don and of course a couple of not-so-quiet-ones
at The Shady Pines Saloon.

Lauren and I saw LOTS of great things for next season in the
Australian collections.
So coupled with my backlog of Northern Hemisphere order sheets,
it's going to be a heavy duty weekend ploughing through the photos
and finishing orders that are supposed to be in by....oops...today!

I just had to let you know about these new Dion Lee arrivals...

Dion Lee, Sydney
Spring Summer 10/11

Rorschach Print Tank Top $460
available in Pastel Print (pictured) and  Black & White Print and also Contrast Print

Rorschach Print Tank Dress available in Pastel Print (pictured) $700

Magyar Jacket with Arm Vents, available in LIght Grey Silk $880

Rorschach Print Short Sleeved T Dress available in Black & White Print (pictured)  $700

You have probably seen the Runway images of these in EVERY magazine
since Australian Fashion week in early May and now they are finally here!

The Tank and Tee Dress Shapes are simple but the prints and colours
are extraordinary and so easy to wear for our Summer.

Dion shows off his pattern making skills in the Magyar Sleeve Jacket
which is actually extremely light weight so again great for our climate
but also perfect for travel.
You can wear it like a cape, as pictured or also as a regular jacket with
the cutout as a highlight.

Dion Lee is available exclusively in Queensland at Blonde Venus!

Gone are the days when we while away our Friday nights at JoJo's
eating chips with mushroom sauce - thankfully.
Now, generally our list of hot social options is just a little too long.
Tonight (Friday the 15th) there are a ridiculous number of social events to explore.

At 6pm, you can see another fashion documentary at GoMA with
Dressed Up For Summer as celebrity French TV personality Agnes Boulard
tackles the Fashion Week circuit in Paris and searches for "the next big thing".

Local film makers collective Third Horror debut their latest work called
The Joy of Sex in King George Square from 8pm as part of the BARI Festival.

Brisbane bands Feathers and Slug Guts  support American indie/psychadellic/shoegaze
outfit Dead Meadow at The Globe tonight.
Doors open at 9pm and tickets are $35.

The Clubhouse host local bands Chinese Burns and Running Guns, supporting
fantastic Sydney band The  Straight Arrows with doors opening at 8pm.

Another popular Brisbane band Extrafoxx launch their album tonight at
The Step Inn Front Bar supported by more local favourites Knee Chin and
Per Purpose.
This show also starts at 8pm and entry is only $8!

If you're still up for some dance floor action, you can head to Woodland
for the inaugural Pedestrian.tv POP! party.
Because Pedestrian love Brisbane, they are going to run this party
every 6 weeks - thanks for the love!
Special guest DJ's for the evening will be Little Red, Sparcadia, Patrick Byron
and those effervescent girls from Bats Magazine under their Skate Witches moniker.

On Saturday night the 16th, Brisbane ladies STAG perform at Woodland
with special guest DJ's Holly, Lou and Michelle and of course the
Woodland residents Polar Bear and Harvey Satan.
Entry is $5 but  free before 10pm!

Over at The Clubhouse, Hunz, Lion Island and Tape Off are supporting
AXXONN for their album launch.
Entry is $5 or $20 with a copy of the AXXONN album.

Next arrivals include Christopher Esber and ARNSDORF!

See you soon,
Thea X

New! Dress Up, Sara Phillips, Malmo & More! 7th October 2010

Hi Everyone,

Yes, I am guilty of not being able to do everything that I want
to do.
I constantly miss getting to the Cinematheque at GoMA, so spontaneously
last Friday night, I dashed over with some friends to see two
short fashion films.
They were so fabulous that I have now scoured the entire programme
and diarised some more hot dates.

We saw two French films that a from a 4 part series called The Day Before
where the crew follow a fashion house in the 36 hours leading up to their
big runway show.
Last week was Proenza Schouler and also Fendi featuring some
incredible (and ridiculous) moments with the label's designer Karl Lagerfeld.

The film programme includes some of my all time favourite classic/cult
films like The Women (1939), Marie Antoinette (1938) starring Norma Shearer
Some Like It Hot (1959) with Marilyn Monoe, Jack Lemmon, Tony Curtis
and for the fabulous costumes Zigfield Girl (1941) with the sultry Hedy Lamarr.

Some film times are a little hard to get to if you work full time but check out
the programme and see what you can do -

We almost breathe a sigh of relief when Paris Fashion Week winds up.
It gives me a little chance to catch up.
I've been enjoying style.com's latest additive - the Move It button -
which unfortunately isn't available for every collection but it sure
is great.

There seems to have been A LOT of satin, disco, flares, orange, stars,
white, white, yawn, did I mention white?

There have been some more live streamings this week which is great
if you happen to be up at 3 or 4 in the morning.
To see some replays of big name shows Miu Miu and Louis Vuitton,
go to:

More amazing new season deliveries have arrived with (finally) our first
little drop of bikinis...

Spring Fling at Woodland.

Early on Saturday night, there is a fantastic free band event as part

Strangely, it's on the concrete at King George Square but the
event is free and one of may favourite local bands Blank Realm
are headlining, along with Ambrose Chapel, AMSS and Psy-Ants.
This event runs from 7pm to 10pm and a bar will be on site.

Later on Saturday night, Tom Hall from Axxonn will be DJing

for next season.
